Enhancements to Open Space

Author // Erica Clay Friday, 24 January 2020

INFOhio's Open Space has a new content editor that makes creating lessons and other curriculum materials even easier.

During the last week of January 2020, the content editor in Open Space was updated and several Open Space pages were refreshed. The new content editor streamlines the former Lesson Builder editor and Resource Builder editor into a single, easy-to-use content creation tool called Open Author.

The Open Space homepage was updated as well to bring more of the tools and resources you need to the forefront. The updated Learn more about creating OER page provides a link to the Open Space rubric and highlights features of the new content editor. If you haven't had a chance to explore the updates yet, please log in to Open Space to see what's new.

Here are a few things to try:

  • From the Open Space homepage, click the Groups button in the header menu to see the updated Featured Groups. Click the ship wheel icon. That's the Open Space Training Group. In the Open Space Training Group, click the Introduction to Open Space folder. You'll find links to INFOhio's updated Open Space training classes in the High-Quality Instructional Materials for Each Child Learning Pathway.
  • Return to the Open Space homepage, scroll to the Explore Curated Collections section, and click the Collections button. From the Collections page, click the Professional Development Collection and peruse the items submitted by Ohio educators and education agencies.
  • Return to the Open Space homepage and try a search for OETC20 to find presentations delivered at OETC and content curated by Ohio educators during OETC presentations.
  • Click the Add OER button in the header menu to see how easy it is to add content to Open Space. If you've recently delivered any professional development sessions, please consider sharing your presentation to Open Space. If you have any questions about how to get your presentation added to the Professional Development Group or the Professional Development Collection, contact us at support.infohio.org.

Those Open Space users with content in draft in the Resource Builder will continue to work in the current editor until that content is published.

Throughout the month of February, INFOhio is collecting feedback on some of our tools and resources including Open Space. If you are an Open Space user who has not yet completed INFOhio's Open Space survey, please take 3 minutes to do that here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OpenSpaceFY20. Your feedback helps us give Ohio's PreK-12 educators the tools and resources they need to bring their best to the classroom every day.

If you have questions about Open Space or the classes in the High-Quality Instructional Materials for Each Child Learning Pathway, please contact us at support.infohio.org.
