Jon Bowers Professional Development Tribute
A Tribute in Memoria
Jon Bowers of the Licking Area Computer Association (LACA) believed in teaching and learning and, as an ITC Director, passionately supported the premise of INFOhio. Serving on the INFOhio advisory board for 10 years, Jon worked vigorously to strengthen its foundation and to move it beyond the school library and into the classroom. He was influential in developing the INFOhio Integration Coach program (ICoach), which trains classroom teachers and other educators to use INFOhio resources effectively, while also helping educators to integrate the digital resources into their everyday instruction.
His sudden passing last year was felt by everyone at INFOhio, the Management Council, and within the education and ITC communities he worked so passionately to support. To honor his memory, the Jon Bowers Professional Development Tribute was awarded to Trish Baker. Trish was selected by the INFOhio Advisory Board and was recognized at the Ohio Educational Technology Conference (OETC) on Thursday, February 15, 2018.
As an INFOhio Provider at LACA for the past 21 years, Trish has demonstrated aptitude in training educators to integrate INFOhio digital resources into their daily instructional strategies. In her capacity as an ICoach, Trish has conducted hands-on professional development sessions that provide teachers a place to practice integrating INFOhio’s digital content with the Ohio Learning Standards.
Trish has served as an INFOhio ICoach for the last 8 years. Her trainings always focus on the end goal: preparing students for their future, including college and career readiness, through innovative uses of technology.
Trish’s unwavering support of INFOhio resources and professional development opportunities, such as the ICoach program Jon so enthusiastically championed, makes her an ideal recipient of the Jon Bowers Professional Development Tribute.
