Finding Content for Your Students on a Topic
Now that you have learned about how to access ISearch, search for items, use the limiters, and save items, practice using your skills by completing the following exercise:
- Think about an upcoming lesson or unit you plan to teach for which you'd like to have students learn about a topic using a variety of media.
- Go to www.infohio.org, make sure you are logged into the INFOhio website as your school or district, and find ISearch.
- Type one or two keywords related to your topic in the ISearch search box.
- Explore the results under each of the tabs. Try to find at least 3 of the following kinds of resources: book, video, encyclopedia article, magazine article, newspaper article, primary source document, scholarly journal article.
- Expand the subject limiters on the tabs. Find at least one new search term related to your topic that you can try as a new search at another time.
- Apply a limiter on at least one of the tabs to narrow your results.
- Save at least one item using the My Lists feature, the Google Classroom tool, or a permalink.
