Saving and Sharing Content with Students

If you want to save results from a search for student use, consider uploading them to a cloud drive or to Google Classroom. Both PDFs and online full text have the same save and share options. From the Results Screen

Users can save and share PDFs and online full text results from the results screen. To learn more about saving and sharing content from Explora, read Sharing Articles and eBooks in the New EBSCO Interfaces on EBSCOConnect.

  1. From the results screen, select the vertical dots to expand the menu.
  2. From the menu, select Share or Download. If you select Share, a menu will open.
  3. From that users have the following Share and Save options.
    • Save to Google Drive
    • Share to Google Classroom
    • Save to One Drive 
    • Create a link to share with students

Saving and Sharing PDF

Users can open the PDF article from the results screen. Select the Share button to see the following save and share options for a PDF, illustrated below.

Saving and Sharing Online Full Text

Users can open the online full text article from the results screen. Select the share button to access the following save and share options for an online full text, illustrated below.

If you want to include a link to this item in a learning management system, use Create Link to generate one.

If you use Google Classroom, complete these steps to save:

  1. Select Google Classroom. The Google Classroom box or login prompt will open in a new window. If you have multiple computer screens or lots of applications open, you may need to minimize some items to find the Google Classroom box.
  2. Select the classroom with which you want to share the item.
  3. Choose the action you want to apply to that item, then click the GO button.

If you select Google Drive and nothing happens, you may have a pop-up blocker enabled on your browser. To save to Google Drive, you must disable any pop-up blockers. You also may need to allow EBSCO to access your Google Drive. Remember that you can get a URL for Explora for Grades 6-8 or Explora for Grades 9-12 to add to an LMS.  Or bookmark it using the link found on the resource's "i" page. To review this feature, visit How to Navigate the INFOhio Website in the Introduction to INFOhio class. 

Using the Cite Tool 

EBSCO's Cite tool makes it easy to generate, copy, and paste a citation for content you find in Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12.

  1. Select the Cite tool located in the top right corner of the article or eBook.
  2. Select the preferred citation style from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose Copy to Clipboard. The citation is ready to be pasted into your document.

Instructional Resources for Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12

There are two ways to find instructional support in Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12.

  • Research tools: Available from the homepage for Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12
  • EBSCO Connect; Available from the i page for Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12

Students and educators can find the Research tools on the homepages of  Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12. These include three instructional supports.

  • Curriculum standards
  • Citation help
  • Research guide

Curriculum Standards 

Find the Curriculum Standards tool under "Research Tools" on Explora for both grade bands. This instructional tool contains Ohio's Learning Standards for grades PreK-12. Use the Curriculum Standards tool to find Explora content that supports that standard. 

Use the drop-down menus to find the Ohio learning standards you need to plan for your lesson. Open the standard statements by clicking on the plus sign (+) to reveal the search string that will yield results aligned to that standard.

For example, using the search string "natural resource" and "renewable" yielded an initial search of more than 5,600 results. The results of this search include articles, eBooks, and peer-reviewed articles. Educators can select items from this results list to supplement instruction and promote mastery of Environmental Science in Grades 9-12.

  • Select All Filters to see a menu of filters to narrow search results.
  • When searching for content to supplement your curriculum, consider using the Lexile Reading Level limiter to find grade-level text for your students. For example, using Lexile Level limiter 1101-1300 narrowed the list to 203 results.

Citation Help

Find Citation Help under the Research Tools menu on Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12 homepages. Use Citing Articles in MLA Style (9th edition) for support generating citations for digital content.  

Research Guide

Find the Research Guide collection under the "Research Tools" menu on Explora for both grade bands. The Research guide, housed on EBSCO Connect, is a collection of research and writing tips for students. The collection includes PDF guides and handouts to support classroom instruction in these topics.

EBSCO Connect 

Educators can reach the EBSCO Connect support site from the information page of Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12

The top of the EBSCO Connect screen, pictured below, features four tabs. The Learning tab takes educators to online classes that offer additional help using EBSCO products such as Explora for Grades 6-8 and Explora for Grades 9-12. The Tools and Resources tab leads to promotional items such as flyers or bookmarks that you can give students or parents. To find teaching resources for Explora, choose Product Help.

From the list on the Product Help screen, pictured below, find Explora. Click it to find resources to support using the databases in the classroom. You will find scavenger hunts for Explora as well as an escape room activity for middle grade students

You can use the search feature on EBSCO's support site to find lesson plans. Type the keywords lesson plans in the Search box. Open the Filter menu and select Explora.
