Check In an Item

Learning Objectives
  • Check in an item.

After you have entered Circulation, you can easily get to Check In in a couple of different ways.

  1. Click the Check In quick link icon at the top of your screen. This icon will be displayed on all circulation screens, so you can access Check In from anywhere within Circulation.
  2. A Check In button is available below the search field.

 On the Check In screen,

  1. Scan or type the item you have in hand.
  2. Click the arrow to check that item in.
  3. You’ll see the item you checked in on the list of items that have been checked in.
  4. If there are any special instructions, such as items going into transit or holds, those will appear.

Currently, you will need to complete most tasks associated with special instructions (item marked as missing, etc.) in WorkFlows.

One task that you can easily resolve in BLUEcloud Circulation relates to items in transit.

If you receive a message telling you an item is in transit, switch your library context to whichever library you need and check the item in at that library. Once the item has been properly checked in at the transitting library, switch your library context back to your library and check the item out as needed.

Now it's your turn, take a moment to try the following:

  1. With one of the items you checked out to yourself in the last lesson, click the Check In icon in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Note any alerts that pop up.
  3. Reshelve the title.
  4. Check in additional items as needed.

If you have any questions about checking an item in, including any error messages you might receive, contact your INFOhio Provider for further help.
