INFOhio Campus

Welcome to the BLUEcloud Cataloging Class

If you have not attended a cataloging training with your INFOhio Provider, you may want to complete the lessons in the Introduction to Cataloging class in this INFOhio Learning Pathway. Although it's not a required prerequisite, it will help you develop a more complete understanding of how and why we catalog the way we do.

Learning Objectives

Use the following objectives to check your learning as you proceed through the class:

  • Successfully log into BLUEcloud Central.
  • Set context to the desired institution (school building).
  • Search multiple targets and use facets to limit your search.
  • Edit bibliographic data manually.
  • Edit bibliographic data using shortcuts like drag and drop.
  • Update/improve bibliographic records by merging or overlaying data from other databases.
  • Create/Edit call number and item/copy records.
  • Use a Z39.50 target to import a record.
  • Create and Modify records in batch.
  • Add a new record using a template.
  • Reflect on learning by sharing information with others.

BLUEcloud Cataloging is one part of a powerful suite of library automation tools that can be used individually or in conjunction with each other to effectively manage the school library. Are you interested in how you might best use the tools available to you? Check out INFOhio's Library Services Platform Comparison Flyer for a brief summary of BLUEcloud, WorkFlows, MobileStaff, and SymphonyWeb. View the comparison chart which includes the top features school librarians are looking for and how these tools can work together to maximize your library's potential.

In this class, you will work through several lessons on BLUEcloud Cataloging focusing on how to access, use, and integrate this software into your library. Below is a description of each lesson and an estimate of the amount of time it may take to complete each one.
