libraries as they prepare students for college and career readiness. Invest
in our young learners.
DONATE NOW TO HELP:
CONTINUE EQUITABLE ACCESS TO RESOURCES FOR 100% OF STUDENTS
All 1.8 million Ohio students in all Ohio schools have equitable access to the INFOhio Core Collection of Electronic Resources, which are licensed through the Libraries Connect Ohio cooperative. These resources are critical for helping students prepare for college and their careers. Without state and federal funding, districts would have to pay $19.90 per student to subscribe to the resources currently offered.
PROVIDE OUR YOUNGEST LEARNERS WITH A RESEARCH DATABASE
In 2009, budget cuts forced INFOhio to discontinue providing access to SIRS Discoverer, a research database specifically designed for elementary students. Few schools are able to provide access to this resource due to their own budget limitations. It will cost about $300,000 annually to return an elementary database to the INFOhio Core Collection of Electronic Resources.
MAINTAIN FREE ACCESS TO THE STATEWIDE DIGITAL VIDEO COLLECTION
Currently, schools have free, unlimited access to use the Digital Video Collection (DVC) in K-12 classrooms statewide. Area Media Centers have licensed statewide more than 2,000 digital video segments in this collection. The DVC is hosted and supported by INFOhio. It costs about $2,050 to add a science title to the DVC, making it available to all Ohio schools in perpetuity. This compares to $110,250 total if every Ohio school purchased the same title. |
