Davey Simo, Library Support Specialist at
the NEOMIN DASite in Warren (Trumbull
County), has been selected as the 2004 recipient of the INFOhio Spence White Service
Award. INFOhio Executive Director Theresa M.
Fredericka said Davey was chosen from several excellent nominees for the award because
of "her excellent leadership abilities and tremendous efforts in providing exemplary
service to the INFOhio project for NEOMIN and the entire state."
John Jaros, NEOMIN Executive Director,
nominated Davey for the award, explaining the traits that have exemplified her career as a
school library media specialist and, since 2000, as a NEOMIN staffer. "Davey has a
tremendous work ethic and excellent organizational skills," Jaros explained.
"She lives her dedication to the library profession with a heart for learning,
especially for students. At NEOMIN, we benefit from Davey's ability to provide vision and
leadership.
"Since Davey's start at NEOMIN, she has been responsible for writing and
implementing grants for NEOMIN and our schools," Jaros continued. "Her efforts
in this area have proven to be very successful with our districts receiving over $700,000
in federal grant monies and school library services expanding in both Ashtabula and
Trumbull counties."
The INFOhio Spence White Service Award was presented at the INFOhio Annual Planning
Conference, June 16-18, 2004, in Mansfield. Davey received a $500 stipend from the INFOhio Governing Advisory Board to attend a professional
development activity approved by INFOhio.
