Can my library apply for an LSTA grant to cover migration costs?
INFOhio inquired of the State Library about this possibility and received the following reply from Missy Lodge.

The LSTA Advisory Council defines migration as moving from one version of
software to another version of the software. Migration may or may not include upgrades to equipment depending upon the vendor. Migration proposals have been submitted previously in either the Minigrant or Full Grant round under the category of Resource Sharing. The Advisory Council has determined that these types of proposals will no longer be accepted. LSTA grants provide seed money for initial project startup costs and are not intended to cover ongoing operational expenses related to library automation.

However, moving from a standalone system, such as Winnebago or Follett, to a consortium such as INFOhio will still be allowable. Those libraries fall into the Automation Grant round. Standalone systems are viewed as under-automated libraries who wish to join an automated library consortium.

In addition, the State Library is aware that INFOhio's recommended Workstation requirements, as provided by Sirsi, exceed the current Schoolnet recommendations.  Sirsi's specifications are based on software requirements needed to run upcoming versions of the WorkFlows staff client effectively and efficiently.
