The transition brochure, What You Need to Know About Migration to Sirsi K-12, says the Library Administration Workstation should have at least 256MB of RAM, with 512MB recommended. Why is there such a wide variance between the minimum and recommended levels?

SirsiDynix Corporation currently recommends the minimum RAM required to operate WorkFlows^® at 512 MB. Performance will be enhanced with 1 GB, especially if the workstation is used for other applications, such as word processing or PowerPoint. In addition, software upgrades usually work better with more RAM. Consider 1 GB of RAM for administration workstations to minimize equipment obsolescence, whenever budgets allow.
