INFOhio's Core Collection provides state-funded resources free to all Ohio's K-12 students and teachers for the 2009-2010 school year.

A username and password are required for home access; see your school library media specialist.

General Updates

The home access Username and Password is unchanged this school year.

The in-service overview for 2009-2010, Think INFOhio… 21st Century Tools Supporting 21st Century Learning, has been updated by INFOhio staff. [PPT 83 slides]

The Core Collection Flier has been revised to reflect that some resources are no longer available. See the INFOhio Toolkit Supply List for this year's promotional materials.

The Help Resources page for each Core Collection resource has been updated.

The Getting Started Guide for each Core Collection resource has been revised.

21st Century Tools and Electronic Resources for Students, Teachers and Parents, a Flash video, is now available to stream or download. The 27-minute production introduces the online resources INFOhio provides to Ohio students and teachers, focusing on the special features that can infuse student learning with 21st century information literacy skills. Produced November 2009.

Biography Reference Bank. Articles about more than a half-million people, most in full text, from around the world, both living and dead.

EBSCOhost
 

Consumer Health Complete no longer part of the collection available through INFOhio. The publishers have provided pricing for buildings and districts in the newest version of Price List 2009.

EBSCO Animals improvements. Separate interface no longer available; content now available as Encyclopedia of Animals in other interfaces (e.g., Searchasaurus, Kids Search), Lexiles added to articles. August 12, 2009.
 

Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos. Online Spanish language encyclopedia that is appropriate for younger Spanish-speaking students and students just learning the Spanish language.
 

New design, new content and additional functionality, to be launched in early September 2009.
 

L'Encyclopédie Découverte. Online French language encyclopedia that is appropriate for younger French-speaking students and students just learning the French language.

SchoolRooms now requires a subscription. To help you decide if SchoolRooms is appropriate for your students’ needs and your district’s financial realities, INFOhio has prepared a Web page, Is SchoolRooms Right for Your Students? The page contains links to a fact sheet and other background documents, an explanation of how various funding sources can be used to purchase SchoolRooms, a link to the newest version of Price List 2009, and procedures for subscribing to SchoolRooms.
   

Science Online. Thousands of essays on major topics and issues in science, math and technology, along with illustrations, experiments, activities and biographies.

SIRS Discoverer is not part of the 2009-2010 Core Collection. The publishers have provided pricing for buildings, districts and ITCs in the newest version of Price List 2009 and have agreed to allow access for Ohio K-12 through September 30, 2009.
 

World Book Web. Encyclopedias for three levels: World Book Kids (K-5), World Book Student (5-9), and World Book Advanced (high school and college). World Book Online Reference Center is now longer available.
