INFOhio and Ohio's Academic Content Standards 

INFOhio works closely with the Ohio Department of Education to provide students, teachers and parents with resources that support and supplement Ohio's Academic Content Standards. The following resources will help Ohio's educational community learn more about standards-based education and how INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources align with each of the Academic Content Standards.

Ohio Department of Education resources

Ohio's Academic Content Standards contains links to all content standards in downloadable formats, as well as additional links to explanations about the standards. Learn more about ODE's Academic Content Standards Revision Process.

Instructional Management System provides links to the content standards, lesson and unit plans, assessments, research and resources, standards-based education and programmatic improvement. This database is searchable by content area, grade bands or keywords. Includes Resources for Ohio's Achievement Tests (OAT).

ODE Newsletters
 

Ides of ODE is published monthly by the offices of curriculum, instruction and assessment, which contains important curriculum and assessment news. Sign up for this newsletter through the ODE page.

Tools for Teachers gives timely tips on licensure, awards, professional development opportunities and model lesson plans. Sign up for this newsletter through the ODE page.

Ohio Guidelines for Effective School Library Media Programs links to Library Guidelines and other resources that are part of ODE's standards-based approach to school library programs.

Professional Development explains the National Board Certification process along with listing seminars and coursework important to the teaching profession.

Standards Guides for Families summarizes Ohio's Academic Content Standards, providing what is expected of students in each grade, K-8, with tips and activities.

Testing and Assessment provides access to information relating to the Ohio Achievement Tests, Ohio Graduation Tests, practice tests and other national testing documents.

INFOhio resources

Aligning Resources to Ohio's Academic Content Standards provides a hierarchical order from content area to grade level indicator to enable librarians to copy and paste a standard's information into a cataloging record, ensuring that all information - including a correct OSIC - is included.

INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources by Grade Band - K-5 | 6-8 | 9-12

Learning Activities are short, designed for about ten minutes of student time on task. Each relates to an Ohio Academic Content Standard indicator statement and is based on an essential question. A series of search steps uses one of INFOhio's Core Collection of Electronic Resources.

Data Driven Decisions for Academic Achievement (D3A2) - Collaborative, long-term initiative focused on developing the capacity of educators to improve instruction and student achievement. INFOhio is a partner.

ODE Checklists - Prepared by the Institute for Information Literacy Education (ILILE) to support Ohio Department of Education Academic Content Standards, including major subject areas and library guidelines.

School Libraries Work, 2008 Edition - Scholastic Inc. report that summarizes research on the effectiveness of school libraries. [PDF 28 pgs]

Student Learning Through Ohio School Libraries: The Ohio Research Study - Summarizes research into how school libraries help students learn and provides tools school librarians can use to track their impact on learning.

TRAILS (Tools for Real-time Assessment of Information Literacy Skills) is an ILILE tool for library media specialists and teachers to assess the information literacy skills of their students. It is completely Web-based and freely available for use.
